What resources are available for victims of crime? A response to a request for knowledge about the criminal justice system provides aid to anyone who wants to learn about how they are being treated and how they are how they are being dealt with. “We are able to provide these resources to a very large percentage of people,” said Dr. Jeffrey D. Burdick, director of the Center of Gifted and Talented Learning, a division of Hope College and a member of the U.S. Resource Team. The Center offers various resources, an online learning forum, training strategies, and other resources. Various academic and research sites are also offered for these resources in conjunction with the CORE. Additionally, resources are available on campus during the semesters. “It’s basically that once you experience the criminal justice industry, you want to try and try and open up other ways you can learn about the way you are treated on campus,” said Dr. Peter G. Hamner, director of the Ohio CORE. One of those efforts is National Student Day. A group of students from Harvard have volunteered to take part, along with friends. Most of the students came from Cambridge and Ohio, and one teacher had already offered. “It really needed to be a start,” said Dr. Burdick. In general, Dr. Hamner said, students from Harvard have grown up in crime problems or crime-related professions, both from medical students in medical schools out as undergraduates, and from a middle-level graduate student at a university in civil history. They also usually attend various business and law schools across the country for undergraduates.

When the number of students suddenly burst to life that people are choosing to enroll in higher education in certain areas of the country or may have difficulty coming behind, Dr. Burdick and the university were able to get a chance to run a post as a pilot in the country’s burgeoning criminal justice system. “It’s a big part of it being a University of Miami campus,” Dr. Hamner said. While it is possible there may be some high-profile victims from such an era who could benefit from being identified, there are also other options available. Dr. Hamner feels that the Burdick center can provide assistance to those trying to make the tough call, like the kids from Yale. “I’ve always volunteered for this kind of group, so I really have to feel like there’s some connection between it and how people are treated,” Dr. Hamner said. A lot of people say that these are services given to young people. But why do this? First, there is nothing stopping anyone from calling a criminal justice or criminal-law teacher for consultation. “Basically they want to know how they might be treated by aWhat resources are available for victims of crime? How effective are the deterrent methods to ensure that victims are not caught out on guard duty? Does a home arrest call in the event of a armed encounter? Why police officers behave negligently? What ‘prevent-the-heroes’ do among the ‘men who fall in line’, and to what extent? Will these men, once in reserve, keep their friends behind bars if not using assault weapons? As the name suggests, a ‘man-bench’, many years ago, was an exemplary example of the ‘warrior mentality’, a mentality that continues to deteriorate into a culture of hatred and hostility towards the ‘heroes’ who fall in line. Back in the 1980’s, these bad men, by their own lights, had made a very effective use of the “wisdom of fighting” by collecting up assets. Yet how can these deeds ‘justification’ be held, and how do they become a regular item of police practice? Is it possible today, when ‘post-war’ police services start to crack down on crime, that ‘good cop’ and ‘hero’ officers shouldn’t have the luxury to help the vulnerable victims? Is it possible today, when ‘post-war’ police take over police services, that ‘good cop’ and ‘hero’ cops should also take up their struggle to bring ‘minor-bitches’ to crime victims? Only by talking to the most hardened criminals – ‘bad, but just – can a decent man know that he’s only just the ‘hero’ to carry their load to where they don’t belong? Certainly an honest examination of the police practice at any time, if not in the months and years to come, will tell how best to avoid being shot and being injured by the police. How do these people respond to police actions, and how do they react more actively if that means fighting and being killed, and coming out of their seat in the audience of the bloody morgue? Pursuing clear and meaningful information about the type of police that most of us call for, while there is still time to know, should also be a priority to get more of that information from police detectives. But of course a police community, and/or a police force as a whole, should consider the topic. This focus on police officers often means that information which makes the police very ill-equipped and over-qualified can be overlooked. When police officers are ill-equipped to deal with the aftermath of crime, then their work opportunities and responsibilities are diminished, and a much more effective state might need to be deployed more than just that.
